Frequently Asked Questions
-
Which character will I get?
You will not know until you open it, and that is the point of a blind box. Each sealed box holds one Golden Edition dumpling squishy, and the character inside is random. There are eight golden designs in the set to find, including Hello Kitty, Kuromi, Keroppi, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, Badtz-Maru and Tuxedosam, and the box does not say which one is inside. You may not receive the character shown in the photos, and we cannot pick a character for you, because the boxes are sealed and identical from the outside. Collectors buy more than one to work toward the full set and trade the duplicates. -
What is a blind box, and what is in it?
A blind box is a sealed package with a surprise inside: you know what the set is, but not which piece you are getting. In this one the piece is a soft, squeezable dumpling squishy shaped like a Sanrio character, finished in shimmering gold with glitter all through it. There is one squishy per box and nothing else. There is nothing to assemble, nothing to charge and no batteries to buy. The unboxing is part of the appeal, which is why these are popular for opening on camera, at a party or as a small surprise that comes with its own moment. -
What makes this the Golden Edition, and why is it an SDCC exclusive?
The Hello Kitty and Friends Mystery Squishy Dumplings come in more than one series, and the Golden Edition is the one released as a limited-edition exclusive for San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Where the regular dumplings wear each character's normal colors, every piece in this edition is finished in shimmering gold with glitter throughout, so the whole set reads as one golden collection on a shelf. It is officially licensed Hello Kitty and Friends by Sanrio. Because it was made for the convention rather than general retail, it is the edition collectors look for once the event is over, and that is what you are buying here. -
What age is it for, and is there anything to watch out for?
It is recommended for ages 3 and up, and it carries a choking hazard warning: small parts, not for children under 3 years. Take that seriously, because the dumplings are small and the box is the kind that invites unwrapping. In practice this is a collector's piece rather than a toddler's toy: most of these go to Hello Kitty and Sanrio fans who display them on a desk or a shelf, squeeze them now and then, and keep working toward the full set. If it is a gift for a child, it suits an older child who already collects, with an adult around for the unboxing. -
How should I display or store it once it is open?
Most collectors keep the dumpling out on a desk or a shelf, because the shimmering gold and the glitter are the whole point of this edition and they catch the light. The squishies are soft and squeezable, so they are safe to pick up and handle, but they are collectibles first, so keep them away from food and drink and out of direct sunlight for long periods. If you are collecting the set, the boxes are identical from the outside, so once a box is open note which character it held before you buy the next one. Duplicates are the usual trading currency among Sanrio collectors.
